Most people think of the ocean beaches or gulf waters of Florida, but did you know that there’s an “inland sea” right in the heart of the state? The wondrous body of water of Lake Okeechobee is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the United States, and contained by the Herbert Hoover Dike, built in 1928. Waterways on either side connect the lake to other parts of the state, creating a 152-mile boating passageway right in the middle of the state. You can hike, access the scenic trail where you can spend a night camping on the Kissimmee River, or catch a pontoon or airboat ride from the marina.

A tiny hamlet of just 5,000 residents, Okeechobee has a small-town feel, but is close to attractions in bigger towns like Orlando, with its theme parks and family attractions, as well as a few hour’s drive from either of the coasts.

Great experience! Scott began communicating with me when I made our reservation and this communciation continued till the end of our trip. The RV was delivered right on time and Scott was kind enough to wait for me to arrive at the campsite so that we could meet and he could familiarize me with the RV. I did have to communicate with him over the "Holiday" weekend on a couple things and he did not hesitate to happily reply, walked me through things and followed up after. Excellent communication.

Sean was very communicative, checked in periodically to ensure we were having a positive experience. Using the blackstone grill and popup table that he provided made for an easy to make, easy to cleanup dinner at the campground. The airbed on the cabin seats allowed our kids to sleep in separate spaces without the need to convert the dining area. The kids were able to connect their gaming system to the tv. The RV is kept in great condition and the owner takes his time to provide guidance on how to use the RV systems and amenities. Would definitely rent again from this host. (Thank you Sean!)
