Joshua Frederick Cockey built one of the first homes in the area in 1798 and later built a hotel in 1810 that drew visitors and settlers alike. His son, Joshua F. Cockey built a train station that became a regular stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad, and several structures that were rented out to other business owners. The town was also the site of a few skirmishes between the North and South armies during the Civil War.

The Great Outdoors

A Cockeysville travel trailer rental opens up a world of adventure and outdoor fun. The Gunpowder Falls State Park is one of the larger parks in Maryland, clocking in at nearly 20,000 acres. As the name suggests, there are a few waterfalls that’ll delight any nature or landscape photographers. There are over 120 miles of multi-use trails winding through mature woods and groves. Tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and flyfishing are just a few of the popular water recreational activities. The longest trail, the Torrey C. Brown Trail, stretches nearly 20 miles up to the Pennsylvania-Maryland border. Although overnight camping is not generally allowed, there are plenty of parking and dump stations that can accommodate a motorhome rental from Cockeysville.

RV Parks

When you search for an RV rental in Cockeysville, be sure to figure out where you’ll park overnight while you grab some Zs. This close to Baltimore, there are parking laws and covenants prohibiting street parking. To find accommodations, head out of the town.

Exploring the City

Although Baltimore is tantalizingly close, sometimes dealing with the city traffic isn’t ideal, particularly in an RV rental. On the upside, there’s plenty of activities in the immediate area. Learn how to scale sheer rock slabs under the watchful eye of an experienced climber. Earth Trek, a small indoor rock-climbing chain gym, has a facility in Lutherville-Timonium. The classes cover everything from knot tying to belaying techniques and will get you started on the basics.

Successful trip. Great communication and easy to understand directions. This was my first time renting with outdoorsy and everything went as planned. The van was very easy to drive and navigate. Highly recommend.

Exactly as advertised and so comfortable for a long weekend in West Virginia! The van was easy to drive and the backup camera made it easy to park as well. The bed is comfortable, but be aware that it's not full length -- I'm 5'7" and opted to sleep diagonally so I could stretch out fully, but north-south would have worked as well. The composting toilet was easy to use and didn't smell at all. I had more than enough power and water for three days even though I didn't get any sun to charge the batteries with. The interior is in great condition. Would book again!
