Over half of North Point State Park is occupied by the Black Marsh Wildlands, which are federally recognized and protected as state Wildlands. Although bicycles are prohibited throughout the Wildlands, hikers and walkers are still welcome so long as they stay on designated paths. It is important to respect the natural landscapes within the park because they provide opportunities for birds and other wildlife to live healthily. The Chesapeake Bay can be accessed through the park, and North Point State Park’s unguarded waterfront is open for guests to swim, walk, and lounge on. There are no lifeguards on duty at the park unless otherwise posted, and it is recommended that swimmers and waders always wear shoes when entering the water. Many sharp rocks and shells exist in the water, so shoes will help prevent injuries. Fishing is also allowed, and a large 1,000-foot pier is a great place to cast a line from. Fishing licenses are required to fish within North Point State Park boundaries.
