Discover Phoenix RV rentals for memorable road trips

Although it’s unknown exactly when settlers first came to the area, records show that the tract of land that would become Phoenix was surveyed in 1793. The first known enterprise (other than farming) was started by Thomas Fulton, who built a factory in 1848. The factory processed cotton and made fabric. This business, owned by various companies, continued for nearly a hundred years. The infamous Warren Manufacturing Company was one such owner. The company was notorious for mistreatment of its workers. They also employed children as young as 10 years old. Many workers, including children, were required to put in between 10 and 14 hours of labor daily. In the 1860s, Phoenix’s workers struck and were one of the few strikers who successfully negotiated better terms: a typical workday would no longer exceed 10 hours. Their success may well have been the lit match that fueled improved working conditions and human rights revolution across America.

The Great Outdoors

A common reason to book an RV in Phoenix, MD, is to gain access to nature without foregoing creature comforts. No leaky tents, no rocky ground, and perhaps the most important reason: no mosquitoes. The nearby Loch Raven Reservoir is a popular destination. Outdoor recreational activities were once illegal, back in the 1950s, but is now welcomed although visitors are still not allowed to swim in the reservoir. Well over 20 miles of multi-use trails are shared by hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. The Loch Raven Fishing Center has a boat ramp, which is the only public access into the reservoir, and also rents out small fishing boats and canoes. There is a small boat dock, as well, but slips typically are sold out quickly. Anglers can expect to catch fish like northern pike, walleye, yellow perch, and smallmouth and largemouth bass.

RV Parks

Even in the small town of Phoenix, street parking is frowned upon. When you rent an RV, be sure to figure out where you’ll park overnight. Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina in Abington may be an attractive option. Right on the Bush River, the marina has direct access to the Chesapeake Bay. Try your hand at fishing or crabbing.

Exploring the City

A luxury RV rental makes it easy to explore the Maryland countryside as well as get into the heart of Baltimore. Among its many attractions, Baltimore’s National Aquarium is at the top of must-sees for many visitors. Over 20,000 fish, birds, amphibians, marine mammals, and reptiles make their home in this massive facility. The exhibits include sharks, dolphins, Australians, and Amazon habitats. Behind the scenes tours are available, and guests are able to feed and interact with some of the ambassador animals like dolphins and sharks. Over 18+ guests with PADI Open Water Diver certification can also go scuba diving in some of the aquariums (guest divers must supply their own suit and fins).

Everything was excellent. Michelle and Allen were extremely helpful with setting up the trailer, getting it hitched and a thorough walk through explaining how everything worked. Was a perfect little getaway for our family and the airstream was great. Allen even drove 1.5 hrs both ways when we had an issue with the water pipe, we discovered it in the evening and he was there first thing next morning to replace it. Seamless and great experience renting from them. Highly recommend!
