Discover Muskegon Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Just off the shore of mighty Michigan Lake, Muskegon Lake is nothing to scoff at. It boasts some of the finest fishing in northern Michigan and beautiful scenery to go along with it. Muskegon Lake was once used primarily for logging efforts. Lumber companies would float impossibly tall pine and fir trees into one of the lumber mills that once dotted the coastline to be hewn into planks. The planks would then be transported by rail companies to various locations around the country. Today, the lumber mills are long gone, and Muskegon Lake is once again a tranquil spot for wildlife and people alike to enjoy.

Getting Outdoors

The shores of Muskegon Lake are partially developed. Though buildings are visible, particularly on the southern side, the dense treeline helps soften the harsh lines of these structures. There are long stretches where tall trees and lush green dominate the banks. There, it’s easy to feel like civilization is far away. Encompassing around 4,150 acres, an intrepid fisherman seeking solitude can simply float away from the multi-lane boat launch. A handful of marinas with boat rental services line the shores. Out in the heart of Muskegon Lake, anglers can expect to catch bluegill, walleye, and northern pike. Bass fishing is said to be especially good, and fishermen have been known to hook trophy-sized fish.

Camping at Muskegon Lake

Although it may be tempting to park an RV rental on the streets overnight, many towns - Muskegon, included - have regulations prohibiting this. It’s safer and wiser to use one of the dozen campgrounds in the area. RV camp at Muskegon Lake State Park. The park has two campgrounds with over 100 sites each, and all sites have electricity. The facilities are open year-round, though, in winters, bathrooms and running water may be limited.

Exploring the Area

Downtown Muskegon is chock-full of history and charm. The Hackley & Hume Historic Site, which marks two Queen Anne Victorian-era homes that sit side by side, was the site of two of the first wealthy homeowners in the area. Today, the buildings function as a science center, a firefighter museum, and a heritage museum, complete with period decor and artifacts on display. Just down the street, a historical marker denotes the original site of Non-Breakable Toy Company, which made the world-renowned Raggedy Ann dolls and many other toys.

From the very first message to the last, Rob and Leslie were so kind and helpful. Went out of their way to make sure I understood how everything worked and even messaged to make sure we got to our destination safely. As far as the RV, it was clean, ran perfectly and had everything we needed for our drive to Florida and back. I would highly recommend it and more importantly the owners who truly cared about our experience.
