The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV rental in Wharton, you can experience the outdoors and a bit of New Jersey history all at once with a visit to Hugh Force Canal Park. The hike follows a portion of the Morris Canal, which combined the Hudson and Delaware Rivers. The canal first opened in 1831 and used 23 locks and 23 inclined planes to bring boats from sea level to Lake Hopatcong at 914 feet above sea level and then back down to sea level at the Delaware River. The canal was abandoned by 1924 with the introduction of railroads, but today, visitors can walk through the woods and along portions of the historic canal when you rent a motorhome in Wharton.

RV Parks

The availability of RV parks within an hour's drive of Wharton makes the city an ideal place to rent an RV. Looking for a rustic camping experience close to all the conveniences of town? Then, you might want to consider Fla-Net Park in Flanders. The sites at the campground offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp electrical service. Campground amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, a laundry facility, and Wi-Fi access. If you have a big rig, you might prefer one of the pull-through sites. Booking a travel trailer rental in Wharton during the summer? Cool off in the seasonal swimming pool or grab an ice-cold lemonade and see what you can catch in the on-site pond. Traveling with children? Let them be kids on the playground or take them for a whirl on the paddleboats.

Exploring the City

New Jersey was part of the original 13 colonies. As such, New Jersey, and many other states in the northeast United States have a colorful past. Watch history unfold before your eyes with a visit to Jockey Hollow in Morristown. It’s only 25 minutes from Wharton and was used as a winter encampment site for Washington’s armies during the American Revolution. Attracted to the heavily forested area on which Henry Wick’s cape cod style farm was built, during the winter of 1779-1780, Washington’s armies felled over 600 acres of Wick’s trees to build log cabins for soldiers. Today, the house is furnished to portray its usage as a general’s headquarters and is open to the public.

Jordan was a pleasure to rent from!! He was extremely communicative + proactive in answering all of our questions and helping problem solve if issues arose (in addition to the Instagram page being very helpful). The van was fully equipped with everything we needed and was in great shape. Would definitely rent again for a future trip! Thank you again Jordan :)

We traveled as a family of three adults and a small dog and had a fantastic time with Sam’s RV! The van was the perfect size—large enough for all of us to be comfortable, yet small enough to easily drive around and park in U.S. towns.
Sam was a wonderful host! He was very accommodating, which we truly appreciated, and always responded quickly, making the whole process seamless. The RV itself was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need and more—pots and pans, bedding, even camping chairs! It was also great on gas.
Thank you so much, Sam!
