Summer is the best time to embark on a motorhome camping trip to Hacklebarney State Park. Falling within New Jersey, the park is popular with adventure enthusiasts from around the state. It’s located between the towns of Long Valley and Chester and is not too far from Randolph and Hackettstown. Renting a campervan is a convenient way of getting around, and you’ll find a range of affordable RV rentals in Morris County.

The freshwater Black River flows through Hacklebarney State Park along with the Rhinehart and Trout Brooks, making it extremely popular with anglers. Covering over 900 acres, it’s a favorite with hikers too. The park also has an interesting history. It is situated on land that was inhabited by Native American tribes; these tribes evolved from hunter-gatherers to agricultural tribes over the centuries. As the tribes moved away from the area, the land became popular with iron mining till it was eventually donated with the idea of converting it into a park for recreation. Today the park is known for its extensive varieties of flora and fauna, including three rare and endangered plant species.
