Discover Gladwyne RV rentals for memorable road trips
Settled by Welsh Quakers in 1682, the town was originally known as Merion Square. Variations of “Merion” were already used in several locations, and though it’s unknown exactly when this occurred, the town changed its name to Gladwyne to avoid confusion. Even though the name vaguely sounds Welsh, it is gibberish.
The construction of the King of Prussia mall and the Schuylkill Expressway (also known as Interstate 76) in the 1960s greatly improved the town’s appeal, and it grew by leaps and bounds. Today, it’s considered one of the more upscale suburban neighborhoods, though the heart of Gladwyne, the intersection of Youngsford and Righters Mill roads, still retains its historic appeal.
One of its most notable residents is M. Night Shyamalan, a highly regarded film director who has produced several Hollywood movies.
The closest large town is Philadelphia, a hair over 12 miles southeast of the city.

Leashed pets and horses are permitted. For more room and solitude, head out of town. Several homes, particularly in the downtown area, are historic, and have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a result. One of the oldest homes in town is the John Roberts’ log cabin, built in 1690, though because the owners added onto the original structure over the years, little of the original cabin is visible from the outside.Philadelphia is a hotspot of landmarks and historic structures, sure to delight history buffs and explorers. Rented this for tailgating at the Birds game—perfect setup and we had a great time! Phil was super helpful, answering all our questions and making sure we knew how to work everything. We’ll definitely be back for more, maybe even another Super Bowl run!
In short, we had the BEST time and are now hooked on traveling this way.Judith and Alan have created the perfect traveling nest. Having traveled cross-country numerous times, they have thought through all the little details that made our trip wonderful, simple, and organic. We enjoyed cooking on their Coleman-like stove outside on the picnic table vs using the alternative induction burner they also provided. Pots, pans, dishes, a sharp knife (so nice to have), flatware, spatula, strainer.... everything we could want and need to cook all our meals. Sleeping was heaven on earth! So comfy …. and with the back doors open to the lake, it allowed us to enjoy the harvest moon beams, its reflection on the still water, and nature's night sounds without worry thanks to the magnet screens protecting us. Below the bed in the "garage" area, Judith and Alan had chairs, starter wood, tools, a canopy we opened over the picnic table, and more..... Anything and everything our little hearts desired made our trip wonderfully memorable. The last thing I will mention is the awesome briefing Judith and Alan did regarding the van, its mechanical systems, where things are stored, tips from their experience of when and how to use the different items on the van, AND a personalized manual they created explaining all of what they covered in the briefing, just in case we forgot any of the details. We pulled away, prepared and excited to embark on our 1st van camping experience!!!!!Wish all of you the same fantastic experience!Yasmin & John
The rental experience with Samona was effortless. The time she spent with us when we picked up the camper was very helpful. The reference information she left in the camper was appreciated as well. The coach is extremely well maintained and was the perfect size for our vacation. Her quick communication and professionalism was also a huge plus. Upon return, I accidentally left a bottle of wine in the cabinet. She even returned that to me. I already looking forward to the next time we can rent from Samona.
