Falls City is a community in Karnes County, in the state of Texas. It began as a train depot in 1886 named Brackenridge (after a railroad benefactor); two earlier communities had failed to establish themselves, but the arrival of the railroad heralded Falls City's success. A post office titled Skiles was opened west of the depot the following year, and in late 1893, the post office was relocated closer to the train tracks and combined with Brackenridge as the new community of Falls City. Its name was chosen due to the proximity of several nearby waterfalls.

Atascosa River Park is a cultivated recreational park in Pleasanton with basketball and tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields, and a Tivoli-like atmosphere. There is a playground for younger children and a rodeo ground and pavilion to remind everyone that this is Texas. It has an annual Cowboy Homecoming Days festival with attractions like Cow-Pie Bingo. It is a popular destination with tourists, some of whom gather on the river banks in the evenings to sing “Old Man River" to the departing riverboats.
