When Parma was first settled it was located a few miles away from its current location, and further along the Michigan Central Railroad. When you book an RV in Parma the original location is easy to check out, just follow the tracks to Gidley’s Station. Modern -day Parma was first known as Groveland because it was built in a large grove of trees, some of which still exist on Grove Street in town. After it was finally incorporated in 1847 as the town of Parma, it slowly grew out, as it was easy for early settlers to expand thanks to the large amount of lumber and streams in the area.
