Gillette is an unincorporated community in Long Hill Township, Morris County, New Jersey. The township was incorporated in 1866 as Passaic Township, but part of that township was divided off in 1922 and named Harding Township. Voters in Passaic Township voted to rename the community in 1901, and the municipality officially became Long Hill Township. The Long Hill Township Library located in Gillette was established in 1920 but began as early as 1880 when a women's group formed a reading circle and began sharing books amongst themselves. Today the library has more than 30 satellite branches providing reading materials to the local citizens.
