Camp Hill is an incorporated borough in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; its incorporation was finalized in 1885. The area was originally known as White Hill prior to the Civil War, but its name is thought to have been changed due to a division amongst churchgoers in a Peace Church located nearby. Camp Hill has a number of celebrities who reside there, including several professional NFL football players, and a few writers and other celebrities. Camp Hill is mentioned in a novel, a fictitious alternate history of the Civil War named Southern Victory.

The Great Outdoors

Swatara State Park is an outdoor recreation area divided by Swatara Creek from end to end; the creek is surrounded by wetlands and tree stands and is mostly undisturbed except for a few bridges that have been built over the creek. The center is wheelchair accessible and open during business hours from early February to Thanksgiving.Michaux State Forest is located on South Mountain at the northern terminus of the Blue Mountains. The park was officially named after French botanist Andre Michaux and was the location of Mont Alto, the first Pennsylvanian forestry school and the source of the park's nickname “The Cradle of Forestry.” There are many hiking trails throughout the park but one of them connects with the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail, and there are paved level gravel roads through the park that allow for a motorized and self-guided tour of the refuge.
