Gifford Pinchot State Park is a fair-sized park very close to the city and is RV-friendly. It’s a butterfly haven, and swallowtails butterflies are abundant in this park during the summer months. There are several miles of hiking trails, and fisherman are able to catch a few different species of bass and bluegills in the lake. Fishing tournaments are regularly held in this park, and a couple spans two to four months. If you fancy yourself an expert fisherman, join in!
Roundtop Mountain Resort is also close by. It’s a great place to learn the basics of skiing and, for the brave and daring, there are a couple black diamond trails. Note: the mountain is open to skiing only in winters. During the summer months, the mountain is used for camps and paintball fun.

There are several small lakes and ponds peppered throughout its borders, and over 130 miles of trails wind through mature woods. If you seek a more rustic setting, both Gifford Pinchot and Michaux parks allow RV camping, though space can be limited, especially at Gifford Pinchot during the summer months.
