Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.

The town of Helotes, Texas is a fringe suburb of San Antonio, located approximately 14 miles northwest of the downtown area. The small ranching and farming community was formerly inhabited by Apache and Comanche tribespeople for thousands of years before the arrival of settlers from the eastern seaboard. Since the Texas Revolution, Helotes has remained a small town, but it was not until 1981 that the town finally decided to incorporate, in an effort to remain independent of San Antonio. Once a tiny, sleepy place, Helotes has quickly grown into one of the most desirable suburbs to live in around San Antonio, with the population taking off as a result.
Helotes to this day struggles with finding a balance between maintaining its small countryside charm while the city sprawl creeps towards it. That being said, the small suburb has done a fantastic job managing its quick growth and retaining its character, so it’s a great time to book an RV in Helotes. The best time to visit Helotes is probably the first week of May each year when the town celebrates Cornyval, a massive celebration featuring delicious food, parades, live music, rodeos, and other exciting events. It is worth noting that the name Helote comes from Elote, the Spanish word for maize, which always played a large role in the town’s history.
