This man-made reservoir was created by damming both the Briery and Little Briery Creeks in 1986, creating a recreation area that was opened to the public in 1989. Getting Outdoors
Fishing is hugely popular here, and the lake has topped the trophy charts for largemouth bass in Virginia for many years since its opening to anglers in 1989. Other species that can be caught here include crappie, sunfish, and bluegill, but bass up to 16lb in weight are the draw for many. Good fishing can be found on both the shoreline and by boat, but note there is a ten hp limit on any boat engines. Boats can be launched at the public ramp, on the northwest shore, but with the power limit, most recreational boating is in canoes, kayaks or sailboats. Parking for your RV rental is available at the public ramp where you’ll also find public restrooms.
Camping at Briery Creek Wildlife Management Area
Only primitive camping is allowed in the management area, so it’s not suitable for RVs, but nearby, there are plenty of campgrounds to choose from locally.

The nearest large town is Farmville, around ten miles to the north, where you can find all the facilities you need while camping with an RV near Briery Creek Wildlife Management Area. Along with gas stations, and plenty of places to shop, there’s also a good range of restaurants and cafes.
