The name, Shrewsbury, is a Anglicization of a German word, “Strasbourg,” which means “the town by the street.” Indeed, the town was formed on the side of what would become Highway 83. Today, the city is best known for its historic homes. Around 150 homes are on the National Register of Historic Places, and there are log-cabin homes dating back to late 1700s still standing.
