In nearby colonial Williamsburg, you can experience re-enactments of scenes from the Revolutionary War period. Other interesting attractions include the Governor's Palace, which was built as a British palace before the Revolutionary War, as well as the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and the Dewitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum. The area is also home to the Busch Gardens amusement park as well as a nearby water park. Those who love golf will have several local courses to choose from. There are also many renowned wineries and restaurants in the area. It's also very easy to visit both Richmond and Norfolk when you book a camper rental near Williamsburg. Richmond is the state capital of Virginia and is home to many notable museums and cultural activities. These include the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the American Civil War Museum, and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. Just outside of the city is Maymont, a beautiful Victorian estate with lush gardens, as well as the Richmond National Battlefield Park, which memorializes important Civil War battles that occurred around the city. Richmond also has a great selection of restaurants, many of which are concentrated in the Church Hill area. The city of Norfolk is located along the coast and is known for its naval history. It is home to Nauticus, a large maritime museum where you can tour a battleship. Other popular attractions in the area include the Norfolk Botanical Garden, Chrysler Museum of Art, Virginia Zoo, and the Virginia Air and Space Center. Outside of the city is the beautiful Ocean View Beach, which is a popular destination for swimming and sunbathing in the summer.
