Getting Outdoors

Covering over 6,500 acres, Beaver Dam Lake is considered to be one of the largest lakes in Wisconsin. For this reason, camping at Beaver Dam Lake has become incredibly popular amongst fishing enthusiasts. Although it is considered to be a shallow lake with a maximum depth of seven feet, walleye, crappie, and bluegill inhabit these waters in huge numbers. Fishing from the shoreline is possible; however, those motorhome camping with their own vessel in tow can also launch their boat onto the water using one of the seven public boat ramps scattered along the shoreline.

Camping at Beaver Dam Lake

There are limited options when it comes to setting up camp with your RV rental near Beaver Dam Lake. Derge County Park is situated on the northern shores of the lake and is the only campground suitable for RV-users in the area. Covering just 30-acres, this small campground has enough space to accommodate 25 recreational vehicles. Each of these exclusive sites come with 30 amp electric hookups, a picnic table, and asphalt pads. Although there are no full hookup sites available, campers can make use of the well-maintained washrooms and onsite dump station. Home to a kayak, canoe launch ramp, and public boat ramp, consider setting up camp here if you are hoping to spend lots of time on the water!

Exploring the Area

Your Beaver Dam Lake camping trip doesn’t just have to be about the lake itself; there is also plenty of sightseeing to be done in the surrounding towns. Honey Acres, a working honey farm and museum, is considered to be one of Dodge County’s hidden gems. Founded in 1852, this thriving establishment owes its beginning to Christian Diehnet, a man who moved over to the United States from Germany. Five generations later, and Honey Acres still provides visitors with an insight into a working honey farm, a history of the beekeeping industry, and a chance to buy some of their delicious honey-based products.

Andrew was an amazing host and the van was well equipped with everything we needed. He took ample time to orient us to all aspects of operations. Was very accommodating with pick-up and drop-off times and responsive to the few questions we had during our trip to Tennessee.
