There are 51 campsites in Stokes State Forest, all of which have fire rings and picnic tables next to them. Some of these sites are available to use year-round, ideal if you are looking to explore the area and go RV camping at Stokes State Forest in the offseason. There are two main state park RV campgrounds available. The Steam Mill campground runs on a first come first served basis. There are minimal facilities at this site, so ideal for those that prefer a bit more of a primitive experience. There is, however, an artisan well and pit toilets available for campers use. Ocquittunk also offers minimalist camping, surrounded by beautiful woodlands. Lastly, there is the Shotwell Campgrounds, all of which have a BBQ grill and fire rings. There is access to drinking water at this site, and there are vault toilets nearby. Ten group sites are also available that can accommodate up to 30 people.

For those that enjoy a little arts and crafts, just a few miles away is the Peters Valley School of Craft, set in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. These state-of-the-art studios run a series of workshops throughout the year run by professional artists from all over the world. whether you are a seasoned artist or are just looking to try something new, this could be a fantastic way to spend the day and come away with something fantastic you have created. Another great attraction for families is the Space Farm Zoo, located not far from the forest. The zoo and museum cover nearly 100 acres and is home to more than 500 animals including bears, leopards, tigers, monkeys and more. In the zoo, there are nine museum buildings which are home to around 50 antique cars, old farm machinery, Indian artifacts, an antique firearms collection and much more. The zoo and museums offer a full day out and are in easy reaching distance of Stokes State Forest camping facilities. For old and young, the Land of Make Believe is a truly magical place, ideal for a day out with the whole family. The park has it all, amusement park rides, water park rides and a number of eateries. Some of the favorite rides include the Tornado, Sidewinder, Cannonball, Drop and Twist, Pirate’s Luge and much more. The park provides hours of fun and is a chance for parents to become kids again and enjoy the adventures with their children.
