When the township was officially established in late 1720s, it took on the name, Franconia, which is an anglicized word that means land of the Franks. One of the main draws to this town was its policy of religious freedom. Several churches from different denominations were built in this township in 1700s and 1800s. Today, Franconia’s central location between the wilderness and Philadelphia makes it an ideal place to visit.
