Owner rules

  • Pet friendly
  • No music festivals
  • Tailgating friendly
  • No smoking

In short, the Golden Rule. Just take care of the camper like it was your own.
***No Smoking or drug use is allowed in camper, your entire security deposit will be held until remediation can be obtained. whatever the remediation specialist charges PLUS a service fee of $100 will be assessed out of the security deposit and any remaining balance will be refunded to the renter as long and there are no other overages or damages.
***You are responsible for any ticket, tolls, tows, and impounds. Even if the notice arrives after late fees and admin fees have compounded.
***Tire damage is the responsibility of the renter, if the renter believes it is due to negligence, the tire must be brought back for professional evaluation. Reimbursement is based on that result.
***If there is a mechanical failure or problem requiring roadside assistance, renter should call roadside assistance number provided by insurer and alert owner immediately. RENTER SHALL NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE REPAIRS. Out of pocket expense for repairs required and which are not covered by insurance or roadside assistance will be reimbursed by owner upon return of vehicle as long as the owner is made aware prior to such repairs and receipts are provided
***Where applicable, Renter is responsible for checking/ maintaining engine oil level, tire pressure and coolant levels at each refueling. Cost due to negligence resulting in mechanical damage or tire damage will be renter’s responsibility.
***Owner will provide information on operation of camper at time of pickup and will provide instructions for operation of coach systems, features and appliances. It is renter’s responsibility to understand and follow instructions. Failure to use proper handling of any of the systems, features or appliances in RV may result in damage and renter will be liable for cost to repair.
***Awning use is strictly prohibited if the breakable locks are tampered with or broken you surrender your ENTIRE security deposit and will receive no refunds. This does not release you from paying for overages or other damage. Please DO use our free 13’x9’ screen room though! 👍 Blue Light comes with a tent-style screen room to be used anywhere on your campsite. Use it for clear-night tent camping, take it to the park. Move it around your campsite as you wish as close or as far from the camper as you please...but please do not use the awning, thank you for understanding.
***Refrain from cooking any seafood, freshwater fish or any other odoriferous foods inside the camper. Doing so will assess an extra cleaning and ozone treatment fee.
***Clean the camper up before getting back. We will do a detail clean before sending the Blue Light out for its next Adventure. Please tidy up and make sure the dishes and pans are cleaned and put away.
***Speeds while towing Blue Light Special: max 70mph (Statistics reveal a sizeable increase in the likelihood for damage or wrecks towing at higher speeds.)
***Pets: dogs only: up to 20lbs $3/night. Dogs 20 to 70lbs $7/night. No kitties or rodents.
***Black and Grey Tanks: empty black first and grey second. Rinse tanks by running water to black and grey tanks and dump again. Do NOT let other people in line at the Dumpsite rush you. There is a $100 charge for us to clear the tanks for you.

Jim was thorough on the walk through and had the Wolf Pup clean as a whistle. It was easy to pull in the wind and was set up for a fun filled weekend. Would definitely recommend hooking up with Jim for a camper rental!

Jim’s answer

Chris, thank you so much! We work very hard to ensure each Adventurer experiences what we call a Rental-Ready Clean Camper. Rental-Ready means your Adventure Rig is cleaned on the inside and the outside, supplies are stocked, and systems are checked. We want you to head out with a camper you'll feel great about towing that's safe, clean, and loaded with everything you'll need. It was our pleasure serving you! See you out there! --Camper Jim

Pick up was thorough, and everything was explained. Drop off went as quickly as it could. Equipment was exactly what's seen in the pictures/description.

Jim’s answer

Thank you, Ryan! Renting a camper for large family gatherings is an awesome way to enjoy a little "personal space" and to have your own accommodations. It makes a lot of sense! Thanks again! Camper Jim

Camper Jim was great. I had rented another unit rented and it didn't pass inspection the day before i was to pick it up. The team at outdoorsy found Jim and he was able to get me set up the following day, Jim was a please to work with and the unit was fantastic. We had a great time turkey hunting in southern MN.

Jim’s answer

I’m so glad it worked out for you, Gregory! We just couldn’t let you miss out on your Spring Tradition! Give a call anytime and we will do everything we can to help you make your next Adventure a success! —Camper Jim

Update: waiting to hear back on a small dent on the outside of the RV that I believe was there already but the owner doesn’t think was there. Trying to clarify and will revise my review accordingly.

We had a great camping experience with Camper Jim's knowledge and guidance! The Blue Light Special camper was the perfect space for the two of us, it had all the stocked items we needed, was very clean, and towed very easily with our Jeep. We would definitely rent from Jim again. Thank you Camper Jim! Tony & Kristy

Jim’s answer

Thanks so much, Kristy! I am so glad your Adventure to Okoboji was a success! (Nice Jeep by the way!) I look forward to serving you again this Fall or in the 2022 Adventure Season! --Camper Jim

Have a question?Get answers directly from the owner

Q.Why is there a Camper Prep fee?
A.
A ton goes into ensuring your camper is Adventure Ready when you arrive for your sixty minute walk through. Over 50 services will have been performed including: >restock dry goods: bath tissue, Kleenex, Paper Towels, garbage bags >restock cleaning supplies: Clorox Wipes, Dish & Hand Soap, Kitchen/Bath Cleaner >refill propane >fresh bed & bath linens >tire pressure checked & tread depth checked >safety systems checked >appliances checked >equipment inventory counted >fridge/freezer prechilled

Q.We are pressed for time, can you pre-fill water tanks or get groceries for us?
A.
You betcha'! If you are camping off the grid or somewhere that does not have a water connection, you can have us prefill your freshwater tank. If you need some groceries for your trip, just let us know ahead of time. Your fridge runs on solar, so we can stock your perishables easily. Need to make lunch? No problem! You have a fully stocked kitchen right behind you! That brings a whole new meaning to, "I've got your back!"

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
This may be the greatest life-hack ever! When we drive forward, we put our hands on the top of the steering wheel. Turn with the left hand and the car turns left. Turn with the right hand, the car turns right. When backing up a trailer, put your hands at the BOTTOM of the steering wheel. Now, when you turn the wheel with your left hand, the trailer will swing to the left. When you turn with your right hand, the trailer will swing to the right. (This was life changing for me!)

Q.I've never pulled a camper before. Can I do this? Can I do it safely?
A.
Yes you can! Let's talk about your tow vehicle. We can easily determine the exact towing capacity of your vehicle with its VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) Just pull out your most recent insurance card and it is likely found right there. Yes it is safe. We have the industry leading anti-sway equipment on our campers. We even have Bluetooth brake controllers if your tow vehicle doesn't have one. We will confirm your wiring is ready to connect as well. Just give us a call!
