Peshtigo River Campground

Search for an RV in Marinette County, and you can find the make and model of RV that is exactly what you need for this trip. Waupee Lake Swamp State Natural Area is a protected refuge consisting of marsh, sand dunes, and, occasionally, rock outcroppings. The marsh areas have tree stands of white cedar and smaller groupings of spruce, fir, and maple, just to name a few. Hiking is allowed here and trails may be marked or may simply be well-worn footpaths; however, parts of the area are privately owned, and you should watch for signs that may indicate if activities are allowed. Park your rental RV nearby, and you can follow up your outdoor recreation with a beverage and a comfortable chair. Cathedral Pines State Natural Area is a nature preserve with stands of old-growth trees, newer and smaller pockets of trees, and consists of a variety of tree species. This variety makes the park an ideal destination for hiking, nature and wildlife viewing, and more. Other activities such as camping, cycling, and geocaching may be allowed, but the park is largely owned by private investors, some of whom may or may not allow the activities. Be aware of signs that indicate whether the activities are permitted and whether visitors are welcome. This is a good destination if you're hoping to practice photography; remember to get a shot of your RV rental in the foreground to show everyone back home exactly what they're missing. Governor Thompson State Park is open to the public from early in the morning until late at night and year-round; overnight camping is allowed along with hunting and fishing, but licenses are required. Hiking is permitted on the more than one dozen miles of trails within the park, and you can also canoe or kayak on Caldron Falls Reservoir and Woods Lake. The lake has kayaks and paddleboards for rent during the summer season, a sand beach where you can swim, and picnic tables. If you're here during the winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing and ice fishing.
