Less than 70 miles southwest of Willmar sits the town of Marshall. A railroad was built in the 1800s to serve as a means of transportation and trading throughout the region. Since it wasn't close to any major towns itself, Marshall almost instantly became a hotspot for hunting, farming, and new businesses. The flooding of the Redwood River in the early 1900s led to the construction of canals that now make up parts of the city.
