Colonel Arthur Erwin, who was the leader of the Bucks County Militia, purchased one of these parcels, and the town that sprang up on that land later became known as Erwinna.
Erwin was the supplier of boats used by General Washington and his men in the infamous Delaware Boat Crossing in 1776.
