Getting outdoors in Lake Mendota is a great idea for those of you who love spending time in lake waters. Known for great fishing, you’ll want to grab your bait and fishing rods and head to one of the many boat landings that allow fishing. Lake Mendota is known to abound in musky, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, sturgeon, and catfish. Remember to get your fishing license from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources before you go fishing in the lake.
Camping at Lake Mendota
You will have many options to enjoy a little RV camping at Lake Mendota. Lake Mendota County Park is on the western shore of the lake in Middleton. The campground has 30 campsites, offering facilities like big rig access, 30 amp electric service, tent camping, a water spigot, dump station, restrooms, and showers. There’s a picnic shelter and firewood is available at the campground. Kids will have fun running around in the playground, while you can look forward to fishing, biking, boating, or just being lazy on the beach. Pets are welcome at this campground, and there’s a designated pet area so they may run around and play fetch.

A Dane County camper rental will come in handy as you set off to explore the neighboring areas around Lake Mendota. The city of Madison is right by the lake, surrounding most of it, and you cant leave the area without spending some time exploring it.
