The Eisenhower National Historic Site is near Gettysburg and is a memorial to one of the United State's most beloved presidents, Dwight D. Eisenhower. The site is his former home, a farm that was both his private retreat and a welcome center for entertaining foreign dignitaries. The farm has an unobstructed view of South Mountain and is close to the Gettysburg Battlefield. The selection of farm animals, including Angus cows, made the picture relaxing and complete.

Today the site is home to a variety of bird, mammal, amphibian, and reptile species, and has a landscape combining oak and hickory tree stands with trout lily, wild ginger, and other types of wildflower. Two rivers cross through the farmland, running parallel to each other before emptying into another river system downstream. While you're here, there are several self-guided tours you can enjoy. These will take you through the home whose original furnishings are still intact, the rose garden, the guest house, and a garage, just for starters. Camp in an RV near Gettysburg, and all of this will be right at your doorstep.

Gettysburg National Military Park is a monument to the Battle of Gettysburg, one of the most important battles in the American Civil War. Michaux State Forest is a multi-use preserve that provides natural resources such as timber and gas to communities, a refuge for wildlife, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. It was named after a French botanist, Andre Michaux, and was the site of Pennsylvania's first forestry school. Much of the forest consists of varieties of oak tree stands, with smaller numbers of maple, birch, pine, and other species. This gives a special appearance to the forest, which is situated on metavolcanic and quartzite rock. You'll see this as you explore the trails that wander through on foot or bike. Fishing, picnicking, and hunting are allowed, and there is a shooting range in the forest. Camping near Michaux State Forest means you can bring your catch from the water to your RV fridge.
